SoonR profile

Part of my interactions with companies enabling public mobile VoIP clients ….

SoonR is about mobilizing desktops …. Remote Desktop Connection … a concept that is gaining traction among the business VoIP users as well. There are some companies that are offering solutions to roaming users providing access to their desktops when they are remote. The concept is that a user's handset with a data connection - wherever the user travels - can have access to all the applications that are on his desktop (including Skype).

SoonR started with desktop search. The idea actually was that people could use their phone to access any documents or file types on a computer remotely. SoonR made PC search available on non-smarphone handsets as well. With SoonR, consumers don't require any software on a handset; it works with whatever browser the vendor has put into the users phone.

After desktop search came SoonR Talk. SoonR Talk is the Skype integration. To use the SoonR Talk client for making a call via a cell phone using a remote computer, all a user needs to do is to log into SoonR and establish a connection from the phone to the desktop.

SoonR actually does 4 things:
Desktop Search
Desktop Access
Desktop Talk
Desktop Organizer

All these except the Organizer work with Macs as well.
