« Interview with Gideon Wertheizer, CEO, CEVA | Main | 4.1 million VoIP Subscriber Feature Server licenses sold in 2Q07 »

Cablevision and Cox 2Q07 VoIP update

Cablevision

• 1.4 million VoIP subscribers as of 2Q07

• Added about 1 million new VoIP subscribers during the quarter

• $128 million revenue from VoIP during the quarter

• VoIP accounted for approximately 8% of company’s revenues for the six months ended June 30, 2007

• Other subscriber numbers: 3.1 million basic video customers and 2.6 million digital video customers, 2.2 million high-speed data service customers

Cox

• Announced a total of 2.2 million telephone customers. That includes circuit-switched customers as well. In 2004 when the company started VoIP services, it had 1.04 million circuit switched customers. So if we assume that circuit switched subscriber base has declined around 15% since then (and most Cable companies have reported decline in circuit switched customer accounts), we are looking at around 0.9 million circuit switched customers today. So my guess is Cox had about 1.3 million VoIP subscribers as of 2Q07

• Other numbers: 3.5 million high-speed Internet subscribers; 2.96 million digital cable subscribers; 5.42 million basic video subscribers
