VoIP clocked 302.7 billion minutes in 2Q07
I am going to post the TOC of the report tomorrow. But here are the main findings:
• Service providers worldwide recorded an estimated traffic volume of 302.7 billion VoIP minutes during 2Q07
• Split: 64.6 billion local, 214 billion national long distance (nld), 24.1 billion international long distance (ild)
• Local split: 61.9 bn is retail VoIP, 2.7 bn is wholesale local VoIP
• Local retail VoIP traffic split: 29.6 bn is iPas in China, 32.4 bn is retail VoBB local minutes
• NLD split: 42.4 bn is retail VoIP nld (from VoBB obviously); 140.5 bn is nld traffic originated as tdm and packetized by the originating carrier himself; 31.1 bn minutes are nld carrier wholesale minutes i.e. traffic originated as tdm or VoIP but handed over to a wholesale VoIP carrier for nld termination. Please note that some of the 140.5 bn traffic discussed here may also be handed over to wholesale VoIP carrier at some point.
• ILD split: 5.1 bn minutes are retail VoIP (from VoBB); 7.8 bn is ild traffic originated as tdm and packetized by the originating carrier himself; 11.2 bn minutes are ild carrier wholesale minutes i .e. traffic originated as tdm or VoIP but handed over to a wholesale VoIP carrier for ild termination. Please note that some of the 7.8 bn traffic discussed here may also be handed over to wholesale VoIP carrier at some point.
• There is about 10% double count in nld and about 20% double count in ild
• Top 5 service providers ranked by minutes: China Telecom, China Netcom, AT&T, China Mobile, Qwest. Top 75 listed in the report
