A web based application that lets one of the buddies within a certain friend circle propose an outing, and then ‘ping’ the other buddies in the group with the proposal. The ping could take form of email(s) or trigger web-to-phone call(s).
Once you enter your thirties and forties, you begin to lose the initiative. You don’t bother proposing an outing to your buddies. If an outing materializes, well and good. You appreciate the effort put in by the one who set the ball rolling. Your buddies would think that you would take the initiative next time. But you don’t. We do that mainly because we cannot be bothered to ring up 5 different people and take a poll, all the while thinking that our proposal has a high probability of being turned down.
That problem could be addressed if we design a service that is automatic and proactive i.e. suppose the application sends the mail out to the group with the proposal and the proposed date/time, it should seek a response by a certain date. It should remind of the deadline and once you are in (for an outing, say) it should remind you nearer the event.
This web based application could automate all the communication work and increase the ‘sell’ rate. You will be able to turn a lot of your proposals into actual events. That would be one of the blessings of a digital lifestyle. Now, this can easily be extended to lots of scenarios: you can organize your office picnics; you can organize company meeting or a user meeting if you are part of some forum or an NGO etc; you can organize a football game; organize a picnic; suggest an outing such as movie or restaurant etc etc.
