IP TV Vendor Update: Amino

Amino regulatory filings in the UK indicate that the IP TV STB vendor has shipped 1.15 million IP TV STBs on a cumulative basis (as of June 2007). Amino was the market leader till 4Q06 in this segment. However Motorola ramped up quite fast during the first half of 2007. Motorola has shipped more than 2 million IP TV STBs so far.

Amino’s internal data analysis shows that a typical Amino enabled customer installs 1.4 IP STBs. So as of June 2007, Amino would be supporting an estimated 820k live IP TV subscribes worldwide.

Customers: Amino has hundreds of customers. Most of them are tier 2 and tier 3 service providers. Some of the large customers include Sistema (99k IP TV subs) and Surewest (21k IP TV subs). There are over 100 customers with more than 1,000 subscribers. Below is some further breakdown.
Over 1k subs: 100 service provider customers
Over 10k subs: 21
Over 20k subs: 11
Over 50k subs: 3

Geographic breakdown of shipments (1H07): 54% EMEA; 40% North America; 6% Asia.

Fiber versus DSL base: Less than 10% of the subscribers are being served off fiber. Majority (over 90%) are being served by DSL providers.

Residential versus Enterprise: Proportion of business coming from enterprise segment, a single digit number. Enterprise segment would include hospitality, healthcare, shops/bars, banks, airports etc.
